What is end-to-end encryption?

End-to-end encryption (E2EE) is a system of communication where only the communicating users can read the messages. This kind of encryption prevents any third party from eavesdropping on your data keeping it safe and private at all times. This is not the case with many other providers including Dropbox, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive and many others. For a detailed technical definition of E2EE, lookup on Wikipedia.

What is Zero-Knowledge Transfers?

All files and messages sent via DropSecure are encrypted using AES-256 bit encryption using a crypto secure random key generated on your device. Every exchange with a registered user happens using strong public key cryptography. This is deemed as Zero-Knowledge so that even we, at DropSecure, cannot decrypt the data.

Zero Knowledge transfer requires all users to be registered to DropSecure.

How are my files stored on DropSecure?

Your files are broken down into smaller chunks and encrypted on your browser using AES-256 bit encryption before they are sent to DropSecure servers. The reason to encrypt the files on your device is to keep them private and secure on the cloud. Your files are always stored in a secure and safe cloud environment that meets a host of regulations including PCI-DSS, HIPAA/HITECH, FedRAMP, GDPR, FIPS 140-2, and NIST 800-171, helping customers satisfy compliance requirements for virtually every regulatory agency around the globe.

What additional data control features do you provide?

At DropSecure, the data you upload is always under your control. You can set up data expiry limits when sharing them with your recipients, you can even revoke access once shared. We also provide an auto-delete feature wherein you have an option to decide the duration of how long your data stays in the cloud.

Can DropSecure reset my account password?

Because we are a zero-knowledge company, we don’t have the ability to reset your password or recover your data if you forget your password. Please contact us if you are experiencing this issue.

If you belong to an enterprise account, your administrators can reset your password for you. Another way to reset password is via outlook plugin, if you are using one.
